Frequently asked questions
About Social Life
How has Social Life come about?
Social Life was founded by Cate Richards, who felt there were not enough options for singles to meet genuine, like minded people. Cate found as her friends started to have families, there seemed fewer opportunities to meet new people through friends or work.
So, thinking many other people must face similar issues, Cate decided to create a unique social club which offered short courses to allow members to interact and share a common experience.
This makes it so much easier to create friendships because the focus is on the activity, rather than facing the anxiety of trying to impress someone new on a date.
Membership and pricing
What are the benefits of lifetime membership?
Because Social Life offers a wide range of exclusive membership benefits beyond your chosen course the lifetime membership package will be the most cost effective option over time.
Your first course is important because that is where you make your first friends, however our goal is to create a fantastic social life for our members - so there are loads of opportunities to get involved and meet others at activities and events. We've built a lovely, comfortable premises with a bistro style cafe area and terrace where you can chat or even have dinner. There are a wide range of free activities, such as walks, picnics or book club and dvd nights for lifetime members to get involved in.
We stage events virtually every week. The cost of these events is 20% lower for lifetime members. Some of the events we've run since launch are dinner and trivia, a murder mystery night, Christmas in July, band nights and a daytrip to the Hunter Valley. Members can bring friends along as guests to the events.
Lifetime members will also get the cost of future courses at a 25% discount and are rewarded for introducing others to the club.
Can I trial Social Life or do I have to join?
You can choose just to do a course - this means choosing the course only option. This does not have all the benefits of Lifetime Membership but you will be welcomed at all events at the non members price rate.
Another good way to get involved is to come along to some of our events and activities at the non member price. Join our email list here
What does it cost and how do I join?
The $399 joining fee for Lifetime Membership includes one free course and $30 towards an event, invitations to free activities plus lower prices for subsequent course and all events. You'll find all the information you need about joining, membership fees and an application form in join
I'm really interested in a course, but I'm not single - can I join?
Whilst legally we cannot refuse you as a member, Social Life has been designed specifically for single people. One exception might be for people who are new to Sydney and looking to find a compatible social circle. Of course, if any of our members get together they will always be welcome!
About our members
What kind of people join Social Life?
All kinds of people, but they all share a desire to meet genuine, like minded people. Most are single professionals in their late 20's to early 40's who live or work in the North Sydney area. Some are new to Sydney or Australia and others are single parents. Why don't you check out Is Social Life for You?, which will give you a better idea of who we are.
What are the odds that I'll meet someone special?
Infinitely better than your odds working late or staying at home! That said, we're not in the business of promising fairytales. But we do promise a fun, relaxed environment filled with great, like-minded people where opportunities can grow.
Can I bring friends if I join?
Members will be encouraged to invite guests to many of Social Life's events, they will simply be priced at the non members rate.
